Judge Nicholas J. Stroumtsos is available to serve clients’ needs in Mediation, Arbitration, and as a Special Master for Federal and State Matters. His practice is dedicated to resolving issues arising from complex civil litigation.

Judge Stroumtsos’ judicial skills were forged as a member of the New Jersey Superior Court. His judicial experience encompasses 19 years of experience presiding over numerous high-profile and complex matters involving Fortune 500 companies in such diverse industries as health care, insurance, telecommunications, and public utilities. During his tenure on the bench, he presided over complex matters representing regional, multi-city, multi-state and international interests that resulted in many of New Jersey’s and the nation’s largest financial verdicts and settlements. Judge Stroumtsos has experience handling a wide range of matters, including complex commercial litigation, insurance coverage issues, contract disputes, product liability, corporate commercial ventures, federal and state environmental law, civil rights, defamation, legal and medical malpractice, and asbestos litigation.

The professional community widely recognizes Judge Stroumtsos as a jurist skilled in summing up complex concepts with a direct, tight, straightforward, no-nonsense but flexible and amicable approach that produces sound and fair results. His mediation skills are built on a solid foundation formed through years of handling complex litigation, which recognizes the legitimate concerns each side brings to the mediation table in a constructive manner conducive to settlement. His insights are beneficial to all parties. Judge Stroumtsos takes an informed, practical approach in the mediation process. He is a top mediator; his expertise is reflected by the high rate of successful resolution of matters brought before him. He enjoys one of the highest success rates in the field compared to the statistics the American Bar Association kept.

Judge Stroumtsos served as a Judge on the New Jersey Superior Court for 19 years, sitting in Essex and Middlesex Counties, for eight of those years he was Acting Assignment Judge of Middlesex County. A graduate of Rutgers University, he received his Juris Doctorate from John Marshall Law School, Chicago. He is admitted to practice in New Jersey, the 2nd and 3rd Federal Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court. He has given numerous lectures in criminal and civil law and Alternative Dispute Resolution practice. He has participated in a wide range of programs presented to various professional groups and Bar Associations on a state and national level.

As a successful mediator, he has been retained to handle various cases stemming from work site and construction litigation, premises liability involving national restaurants, supermarkets, and home improvement centers, and disputes stemming from Superstorm Sandy. He also enjoys a reputation for resolving employment matters.

In addition to mediating, he has been called upon to be an Arbitrator and render decisions on matters where the parties have agreed to binding arbitration. His well-reasoned decisions have been recognized as fair and equitable.
